Did Stanley Kubrick direct "The Shining" to save his sanity, his life?

For those of you Jarheads with a taste for conspiracy theories, and who may be open to entertaining the notion that the great - and secretive - director was responsible for staging NASA's lunar landings at the behest of the US Government so as to appear that we were several steps ahead of the Russkies, I submit for your approval this essay recently posted on this website. Why did Kubrick change elements from King's novel that didn't necessarily need to be changed? And are there hidden codes within the movie that offer a wink and a nod to the role that he played in what would have been history's greatest hoax? Personally, I don't believe a word of it. I think.

Maybe... Just maybe if the author of that post had a compelling way of drawing the lines between innocuous set pieces and broad, overarching conspiracies it would have made an interesting read, and probably a new perspective with which to watch Kubrick's The Shining. However, his website and writing style remind me of the guy in the middle seasons of the X-Files who lived in a metal trailer with a satellite dish on the roof; paranoid and hopeless.

Enjoying the Jar, Steve. Keep it up!

Boy, some people really have a lot of time on their hands! Honestly, I didn't even finish reading the essay. I only have so much patience for craziness. But I do have a weird envy of people who can divine so much hidden meaning out of a film - even if it's all in their own imaginations.

They're just one step removed from the Apocalypse soothsayers and Nostradamus junkies - there are always signs about, if you just look for them hard enough. Somehow I have the feeling that this guy subjected every film after 2001 to this test - and The Shining was the one that was most fertile. Next up - How Barry Lyndon conclusively proves that Paul McCartney is really dead.

I can't wait to see what this guy says when he discovers that Showgirls is actually chock full of hidden clues and symbols about who REALLY killed JFK.

Now if you'll excuse me, my tin hat needs to be refitted.

Why do insane conspiracy theorists always have the worst looking websites? This looks like he had it made the day Windows 95 came out and hasn't changed the design since.

Im susceptible to peer pressure, so I now fully believe that The Shining is responsible for 911 as well. Wait..
